Review:NIOD Hydration Vaccine

This product has recently received lots of attention since the NIOD range from deciem has become more and more popular. Deciem is the umbrella brand that contains amazing ranges such as Hylamide, Fountain, NIOD … .

The previous post features the amazing hylamide serum. This post features the NIOD hydration vaccine. It is quite a unique product. I think you will either love it or hate it. If your skin suffers from dehydration, you may want to give it a try.

What is it?
A moisturizer (or according to the NIOD, a hydration seal) to be applied in the last step of your skincare routine.

Who is it for?
I think this is a great product if you travel a lot (to be applied on the plane) or suffers  from skin dehydration.

Directions from the website
Apply a small amount all over face in the AM and PM after the application of serums (ideally NIOD CAIS and MMHC) but before the application of any other creams and/or sunscreen formulations.

How to use it?
For me, this product is a great last step in my nighttime skincare routine to seal the deal. For morning, this is too heavy for me to apply before sunscreen and make-ups. My skin usually ends up being too oily in the middle of the days. Furthermore, the texture is quite silicone-heavy and if the other products applied later are not of the same texture, you may end up having flakes.

the texture is quite thick, since it is silicone-based.

What does the product claim? (It is really a lot! :-0)
A breathing, adaptive hydration seal for the face that offers protection against degradation of Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF), supplements the skin’s own NMF and supports sustained production of NMF within the skin. NMF, largely composed of amino acids and minerals, is the skin’s natural barrier against water loss—in effect, protection from loss of NMF itself is the first line of defence against protection from loss of hydration (water). This novel approach stands in sharp contrast to moisturizers that offer oils and lubricants as a method of hiding dehydration instead of supporting the skin’s own barrier to water loss. This build-up of NMF within the skin is shown to increase markers of youth within the skin so efficiently to the point that the skin can look up to 20 years younger after 4 weeks—purely by increased natural water content and no other factor.

Does the product live up to its claim?
I am not so sure. I do not think that I look so much younger after 4 weeks. However, this is a great product for skin dehydration.

Everyone knows that our skin usually feel really dry during and after flights. I first tried this product on the plane and it feels amazing..What I usually do is to apply layers and layers of hydrating face masks during my flight. However, the downfall is that it is a bit sticky/inconvenient and you need to remove it at the end of/after your flight. Hydration Vaccine comes in very handy in such situation. I apply only two layers of hydration vaccine and at the end of the flight, I do not even bother to put on foundation as my skin looks quite good My friend complements on how amazing I look after a 10-hour flight. I guess that is a testimony.

the product does get absorbed in a short time. It won’t just stay at the surface of your skin.

What I don’t like about it?
Not much. I just don’t apply it in the morning as it is too much for my combination skin. I have no problem with the product that this is a pro-silicone product.

Causes of allergy or concern?
This product is fragrance and paraben free.  If you are concerned about skin irritation, this product should spare you from those problems.

42 euros. This product last me about 3-4 months.

Where to buy?
The NIOD range does not seem to present in any brick-and-mortar retailer. You can buy the product range online at their website They offer free worldwide delivery. So no matter where you are, you are just a click away.

Would I buy it again?
I would. Compared to other moisturizers that do not seem to have any function, this actually works.
