Summer finally comes to Amsterdam where summer is barely located. When we are rushing to the beach, please don’t forget the summer skincare essential–sunscreen. The product that I am writing today is unbelievably great to be applied all over your body (but not your face!) whether you are chilling on the beach or having fun in the water 🏖️. If you are looking for a solid sunscreen for daily use on your face and neck, please checkout my blogpost here.

Please leave your comment if you have any suggestions about this post, my blog or you simply have somthing to say! Enjoy the read! 🙂

In the past few years, the sunscreen skincare market has become more and more interesting with increasing product variety (e.g. sunscreen oil, sunscreen spray) and and decreasing product discomfort for our skin. Don’t be afraid of sunscreen oil, it is not your  oild-fashioned sunscreen oil any more! 😜

What is it and who is it for?
A sunscreen oil with high SPF protection SPF50 + with both UVA and UVB protection that is water resistant.

I truly think that this sunscreen oil is suitable for everyone in the summer who needs a sunscreen for your body.  This is also great for people like me who have oily and acne-prone skin. This sunscreen oil is non-comedogenic so it will not block your pores.

I really enjoy this sunscreen oil because unlike a sunscreen creme with high SPF that tends to leave you looking white or ashy, this sunscreen oil is colourless and quickly sets to your skin to a satin finish and you can also use it for your hair!!

once applied, it is absorbed into skin very fast and it does not make your skin looks white or ashy

How to use it?
Apply 30 minutes before exposure and re-apply frequently and generously every two hours to maintain protection especially after swimming, perspiring or towelling.  For sunscreen oil, it is very important to allow the oil to fully dry before you go into the sun (So around 30min).

What does the product claim?
Broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.Optimal SPF 50 protection against UVA rays thanks to Mexoryl® XL filtering system.

  • Nourishing
  • Satin skin finish
  • With hypoallergenic fragrance
  • Adapted for all types of skin. Ideal for dry skin
  • 2 hours Water-resistant
  • Tested under dermatological control

Does the product live up to its claim?
Absolutely! I used it for the first time when I was snorkling in Egpyt last November. It is so easy to be absorbed to my skin and it does not leave my body or face looking ashy. When I am back, I does not get much darker despite my skin was constantly exposed to the sun.

How about the ingredients? Is the ingredient safe?
Overall, it is a product with very good, safe and efficient ingredients. Ingredients such as homosalate, ethylhexyl salicylate, phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid provide UVB protection and butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (avobenzone) provides UVA protection. Octocrylene also provdes UVB protection and helps stablizes UVA sunscreen actives. It contains triazones , as well as L’Oréal’s patented active sunscreen Mexoryl XL, listed as drometrizole trisiloxane on the bottle.

This sunscreen is free from paraben. However, it does contain fragrance..

What I don’t like about it?
As I have mentioned above, this product does contain Fragrance, which could be potential cause for increasing sensitivity.

Price
Vichy price varies based on where you make the purchase. On various online shops, this product retails for about 16-18 euro for 200ml. This will last for one person’s usage for

Where to buy?
It is available in the pharmacy where La Roche Posay line is carried. There are a couple of online shops such as newpharma., pharmamarkt, and also amazon.

Would I buy it again?
Totally! I have been stocking up this sunscreen oil ever since I found it last year.
